This is the old traditional way to make coffee, before the coffee makers existed. This is the simplest and oldest method of brewing coffee, similar to cowboy coffee described earlier, but with use of strainer to remove coffee sludge. The jug can be metallic, china or earthenware.

1.    Fill the jug with hot water to heath the jug. This will create a warm temperature conducive to the coffee aromatics.
2.    It stands for a 5 minutes, and then pour out the water.
3.    Dry the jug.
4.    Spoon in coarsely ground coffee (two heaping tablespoons per 6 - 8 ounces of water ... or to your taste)
5.    Then pour just enough almost boiled water to cover the grounds.
6.    Wait for a moment, and then add the remaining water.
7.    Stir immediately, preferably with a wooden spoon.

Let say a word about strainer. It can be a simple peace of cloth, little metal net basket, basket from natural materials like bamboo, even paper filter. I suggest you rather use a permanent filters which are a great alternative to paper filters.
And you protect our envirnment with no paper filters to throw away!

CaffeMaker Jug and Strainer Coffee Tips:

Tip: Paper filters can add some "paper taste" to your coffee, and remove some original coffee aroma from the coffee.
